Client Sweetie Pie

Client Sweetie Pie's house is done with the construction!!!!
Wooo Hooooo...

It was a whirlwind couple weeks trying to meet a 2 week deadline, and we came in at 3 weeks...which is pretty damn close!

Here is what it looked like before...

DURING:

Still during...

AFTER:
 (please ignore the crappy photos)

The walls are Dunn Edwards Muslin (it's a neutral grey)
We ripped out the center weird wall thingy..
Drywalled over the bad wall paneling
Replaced all the floors and added recessed lighting
We also closed up the weird pass through in the wall to the kitchen and opened up the ceiling in the kitchen to add some light..much better!

AFTER:
(again please ignore the crappy photos)

Here we added Phillip Jeffery's grass cloth in Fog to the entry wall to add some much needed texture. We painted all the trim Dunn Edwards White...its my FAVE!

the hand cut, custom pattern tile turned out really pretty..
It is Calcutta gold marble

So there is still the interiors left to do.... which will be done shortly.

Here is a peak of the fabric palette and some happenings..

Big News: Signed a Lease

Besides my first year at university which I spent living in campus residence, I have lived in the same house since I was born. It has been a blessing which has allowed me to save money, avoid student debt, and not have to worry too much about daily tasks such as cooking and grocery shopping.

Pursuing my dream career in the big city, however, means big changes. I've been on the hunt for some affordable housing in Toronto close to my design school for the fall. Recognizing that my own apartment was not realistic financially, I settled on student housing. All I wanted was my own washroom.

I may have gone slightly over my planned monthly budget (oopsy), but I've found the perfect room!
The room is 12' by 19'. Lots of room for all of my design ideas!
This picture doesn't do it justice, but this is my extra large WALK IN CLOSET, maybe big enough for my very own dressing room.
Here is the huge shower in my private washroom!
And my big soaker tub! I love bubble baths after a long day.

I can't paint the walls or change any of the fixed elements, but I think it's a good blank and neutral canvas to create a space that is completely me. Stay tuned each day this week where I discuss my design ideas for the different areas of the room!

ps. I feel so grown up! Ah! Tell me about YOUR first rental.
All photos sent to me by my future landlord. Better quality pics to come when I move in and redecorate.

Weekend decoration tips

As we do have a long weekend here in Belgium, I invited some friends to come over!

So I was browsing into my ‘decoration tips’ file. Since I started blogging I filed a lot of inspirational images which are very helpful whenever I have to create my tablesetting or if I want to redecorate my home bringing in only a few little changes. As I was printing some of the images, I thought that maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea to share them with you.

First thing I always think about are flowers! I can’t imagine my house without flowers!

One of the most important things to create a succesful tablescape, is the way you display the napkins. Don’t you agree?

What will I do?

17Do you prefer to display them in this way?  Source here

25Or this way?  Source here

26Or this one with the key! Isn’ t this lovely? I found it at Jermaine’s blog French Kissed.  Source here
