An alternative use

 

A few days ago we visited a client's house where we installed a kitchen 2 years ago and to my surprise I noticed that the kitchen cabinet space that was meant to store the cutlery, was now used to place the wine bottles!

I actually think it is a splendid idea and a gorgeous alternative use.

I absolutely wanted to share the idea with you today.

Introducing Belgian designer Natascha Persoone

 

A few months ago, I had the pleasure to meet the Belgian interior designer Natascha Persoone.

We had a long and interesting conversation about architecture, interior design and craftsmanship which is the backbone of our Belgian design.

I was impressed by Natascha’s sense of style and her approach to interior design.

For more than two decades Natascha Persoone is active as an interior designer.

Her work includes many private residences, commercial offices and medical practices.

 

Without doubt, Natascha gained a lot of experience and is always looking for new challenges. Running her projects, she is determined to collaborate with professionals and she loves to be surrounded by the best Belgian craftsmen.

Belgian dining tables

I hope that you all had a great start into this new year!

 

My first post this year is about Belgian design, in particular about Belgian dining tables.

I noticed that a lot of you, my dear readers, are very much interested in the Belgian style dining tables.

 

The natural or bleached or greyed or weathered oak Belgian table is used in the dining room as well as in the kitchen, as in the garden or in the garden house.

For a lot of inspirational pictures of beautiful Belgian dining tables used in kitchens as well as in dining rooms, I would recommend the Beta-Plus publication ‘The 100 Best Kitchens & Dining Rooms’.

Famous Belgian kitchen

 

The Copenhagen-based restaurant Noma, one of the world’s best restaurants, renovated its kitchen by the Belgian company, Maes Inox.

Maes Inox was already asked to build a kitchen for some Belgian top restaurants and earlier this year the company was commissioned to build a new and high-end kitchen for the Danish restaurant Noma.

Noma was chosen as the world's best restaurant several times over the past years, and the chef René Redzepi has built a solid reputation for his innovative approach.

Noma is the hardest restaurant in the world to get into, with some 20,000 daily reservation requests !

Noma first opened in November 2003 and after 10 years of being up and running, the restaurant has gotten a complete kitchen makeover.

Inside the kitchen you notice empty space in order to create plenty of room to maneuver. All of the equipment has been hidden away. Stainless-steel countertops have been replaced by dark granite with compartments for tools built right in.

As a Belgian, I am very proud that our Belgian company Maes Inox was commissioned to build the kitchen for this renowned restaurant.

As an interior designer I also would love to share with you a few images of the Noma restaurant’s interior that was renovated last year (2012) by the Danish studio Space Copenhagen.

The designers have replaced the brown hues of the original interior with muted black and grey tones.

They used organic materials such as wood, stone, leather, brass and linen, that age beautifully over time and that create an honest and earthy feel.

The renovation gave the restaurant a more cosy Nordic feel.
