One room 2 Looks with: Bryn Alexandra

Time for another round of One room Two ways! We have a blog-elebrity here today sweet Lovers of mine!!! {BTW how good is Blog-elebrity? COINED}. 

The cute and talented Bryn from the SUPER POPULAR blog Bryn Alexandra. I am super excited to have her and her "one room two ways" cause it is a stunner! Don't you just love it when these talented ladies show off there sweet skills? Without further pause let's relish in the splendor shall we?

When Amber first asked me to be a part of the series, I really wanted to but I'm still in the early stages of decorating my own house.. and I didn't really have much to "play" with. But when I saw Jamie's post, I had the idea to "play" with one of the beds we have at the shop I work at a couple days a week.

Look #1: Neutral & Feminine

This look features an all white and cream bed with feminine pleats and lace. There are a lot of weathered, natural elements like the wooden lamp and the distressed cream side table. Overall, it’s a neutral, classic look full of pretty details.

Look #2: Eclectic & Colorful

This second look uses the same headboard and bedding, but has a much funkier feel. We added an ikat throw hung on the headboard and purple and blue velvet throw pillows. We added more blue touches with the blue herringbone blanket and the blue glass lamp. The side table is white lacquered.

Ok this post is a bit off schedule but honestly it deserves an entire weekend for you all to obsess over.

This talented ladybird needs zero introduction. She has one of the most popular and recognizable blogs in blog land, she has a crazy cool store, and she's a damn gifted interior designer. We were fast "blog buddies" and I am so glad cause she is WICKED COOL!

I just got these puppies in my inbox and I couldn't believe it. No words, just these photos and I am totally OK with that. Thanks Jamie!

What a fun "job" it is to be a blogger in this day and age. I get to meet amazing ladies through cyberspace everyday! I don't think I ever had so many "friends".  One lover in particular is Cassie, blogger extrordinare from the lovely Hi Sugarplum!. I know if we lived in the same zipcode or state for that matter we would be pals. Probably drinking pals that just blab about fabric but still, pals nonetheless. I am happy to have her showing us her "one room 2 ways" today. She is so smart she thought outside the box and chose her backyard room. What a smartypants!

Hey guys! I'm Cassie from Hi Sugarplum! I think Amber, her blog and her skillz are amazeballs (stalker, much?), so I'm super excited she asked me to participate in her series! I think I'm cooler by default, if only for today.
When Amber asked me to show "One Room, Two Ways," I immediately thought of my current favorite 'room' in the house...our backyard! When the temperatures rise and the sun is shining, you'll find our family hanging out back.

(Disclaimer: This shot is from last Summer, things haven't advanced this much yet.)
Most weekends we eat out on the porch. This is how it might look for a family-friendly afternoon cook-out.

Disposable plates and napkins, fun straws and a mix of backyard treasures for the centerpiece.

But when the sun sets and the kids are stashed tucked in bed, it's liquor Mommy/Daddy Time!

Twinkle lights and lots of candles set a relaxed and romantic mood. Common elements rounded up from our indoor decor make for a great centerpiece, and help keep things in place if the wind kicks up.

I like to use real flatware and linens so the evening is a bit more polished, but still mix in melamine dishes and stemware so no one has to be too careful.

I don't know which way I like better, but I know this room will get lots of use in the coming months! Amber, the table is all set for you and the Duck....fly South baby!

One Room 2 Looks with: A La Mode

Ready to have your eyeballs explode from pretty overload....???


OK,  So I asked Shelli from a' la mode to play in my "one room 2 ways" series and this is what she gave me.....

She is amazing and if you have not already checked out her bloggy you best get your butts on over and loose your self for a few. What an example of how a little bit of changes make all the difference in the world.

Hi ya'll!  I was stoked when Amber asked me to participate in her "One Room Two Ways" series!  In fact, I was so excited, I guess I did it twice!  Her blog has been a daily read from the beginning for me, so I'm honored to be here!

My living room usually houses an array of blue and white pillows, as blue is my FAVORITE color.  I like a calm and serene atmosphere and feel to my home and blue always gets me there....everytime!

I buy everything on a budget and like to mix high and low end furniture, textiles and accessories.  All of my sources for this room look can be found here.

But....I have design ADD like to mix it up.  

NEVER underestimate the power of pillows and accessories my friends!

So for a fresh spring feel to the living room, I added the two linen pillows from William Sonoma Home for a pop of orange. Another trick I use a lot is to change the lamp shade instead of the entire lamp.  Most of my lamps have a neutral base, so when you find fun shades (like these from HomeGoods), you get a new look for a smaller price tag than a new lamp!  

The two side pillows were made from dwell studio placemats as well as the yellow linen bolster. If you can sew or know someone who can, this is an inexpensive way to have higher end fabrics for pillows!   I turned the coffee table around and added the white ceramic vase and candle from HomeGoods, and a hydrangea (my FAV!) from the grocery store.  The small glass sea urchin vases are also from Homegoods and are filled with inexpensive stems from the grocery store.  

Well, that was easy, right?  Lets do it again!

Here is how my master bedroom normally looks.  Serene and calm with blue.  Are you seeing a color love theme here?  

It helps having some consistency in color throughout my home, as it makes for easy pillow and textile swaps when you want to change up your look, but don't necessarily have the budget to buy brand new items.  All of my sources for this room look can be found here.

Sometimes sticking with neutrals and whites create just as calm of an environment.  Good for sleeping, right?  I bought this duvet and shams for $23.33 at Smart Bargains!  Crazy cheap!  I also bought a plain white euro sham off of ebay for $5 and mixed it right back in with the other 2 existing white shams.  The small lumbar pillows are cashmere, another great find from the potterybarn outlet (William Sonoma Home).  

Sometimes even a subtle change will still create a new look!

I LOVE this blog. Can I just say when I come across  Chic Coles, I read for what seemed like hours. It was non-stop eye candy! When I asked Chic Coles to participate in the "one room 2 looks" and Cassandra sent over her pretty pics, I was ecstatic! I really couldnt wait to show you what they had in store and let me tell you.......they are awesome! Enjoy.

Hey to everyone! I’m super excited to be here on Amber’s super fabulous blog.  When Amber asked me to take part in her “One Room, Two Ways” I couldn’t help but think of how often I’ve styled rooms at my job as a designer for Martha Angus Interior Design! But the truth is, I’ve never really “styled” my apartment. It was so much fun trying it two different ways, trying different combos.

So for look one this is the way our apartment looks for the most part. With the exception of our West Elm Sofa, all of the furniture pieces were either on Craigslist or bargain flea market finds. It’s one of my favorite things to do! I love finding great pieces at low prices.

For look two I tried to switch things up from the norm. By switching the lamp, pillows on the sofa and some of the artwork it created a much more monochromatic feel with all of the blue elements; blue is my favorite color and I never tire of it! It’s no secret that I LOVE color! I sometimes envy people with muted spaces, but I just can’t help myself when it comes to bright and graphic.  For this look I used my Robert Abbey Lamp, pillows from CB2 and Ikea, as well as a graphic painting that I created.

Thanks Amber for including me in this amazing feature, it was such a blast to do and get to know the uber talent that you are! Here’s to a fun blogging friendship!

One Room 2 Looks with: Me, You and a Wiener

So Bri is funny. Rull rull furny! Her dog Timmy is pretty radical aand so are her DIY skills, Like this damn desk and this Ikea rast hack, Oh and don't forget about these either. This lady has some frugal abilities and I am in awe.

So Yeah I suck at decorating but I try my hardest to make crap look right. So when Amber asked me to do one room two ways, I decided to pour all my little heart and soul into decorating the hell out of some sh*t.

So this would be our upstairs living room. For most of you who don't know my husband and I are hardcore gamers. The challenge was to hide my Xbox, video games, video game accessories and wires while still keeping it pretty. This console was perfect for the job.

My favorite so far, a simple clean look. Everything is hidden behind those doors like I want it. Bob the horse looks pretty damn happy. And I is actually loving the rust on those x-benches.


For a more happy and colorful look I went with sprinkling salmon pink everywhere, overboard much? For my drunk friends I decided to switch out Bob for liquor and Gary the turtle. Ha ha bob. Ha ha.

I is still deciding on which look I like best. The great thing about the skirted console is how easy it is to change up a look without spending much money on a new piece of furniture. Just sew yourself a table skirt and BAM! You got yo'self a new console. Perfect for hiding crap when company is at yo door and you forgot to clean.

So there you go, my one room two ways look. Hope y'all enjoyed my jibber jabb.

One Room 2 Looks with: Mr. Goodwill Hunting!

This stylish fella needs little introduction. He is the super talented,  super fabulous Mr.Goodwill Hunting! When I started to read blogs Mr Good Will Hunting was one of my all time faves. I would remember thinking he was such a trend setter and he must throw some pretty swanky parties!  Well when I reached out to have him do this series I though for certain he would not have time for such a small fish...boy was I wrong. He is just as sweet as can be and jumped at the idea! Introducing: Mr Good Will hunting.

When she asked, I was unsure which little space I would redo or even what changes I would make.

Now you must understand that there are only a handful of useful colors in my home, so I don't have a full spectrum to work with.

However, I believe even small changes can make a difference.

 When Amber from Amber Interiors asked me for a post about decorating one room two ways I thought "That's easy since I am always moving things around."   I have pillows covers stored in a closet that make reappearances.  Sometimes, something as simple as a little accessory like beach glass from Pottery Barn can motivate me to start playing with room.   I think many of you feel the same way.

Here is a our living room/family room in our renovated 1950's cottage in Newport Beach, Ca.

"Dressed for Winter"

 The Ikat pillow is by Madeline Weinrib and the black paisley pillow was custom made from a cotton/wool blend (made in India) from Kravet.  I bought the hand embroidered suzani cloth (made in Uzbekistan) on Ebay a couple years ago.  It gets moved around from room to room.  It was last used as a table runner.

 I like to accessorize with real fruit.  The elegant 

Orrefor's crystal bowl from my mom counterbalances 

the rough cement planter and succulent plant.

"Dressed for Spring"

This is one of four 100% linen pillows (we have two matching sofas in the room).  The fabric is by Blithfield and is made is England.  The colorful cotton quilt was purchased by my friend's daughter on a trip in Polynesia.

 Here is the beach glass from Pottery Barn that I mentioned and 

some fresh flowers from the grocery store.

You guys....LOOK WHO'S HERE..

Can I first off start by confessing my undying love for Christine from Bijou and Boheme. She has been one of, if not THEE, nicest and most helpful blogger gals in blogland.! She has impeccable taste...and I mean impeccable. You have to go look at her house, and she also has a sense of keeping her style fresh and true to her personality. I am chuffed to have her showing off her room two ways today. If your not already a follower....go jump on it because you have been missing out! The eye candy alone will have you swooning for more!

Hi AI readers, I am so thrilled to be here showing you my little cabinet switcheroo.

To start things off, here is my vintage chinoise armoire.

 I bought this little lovely from Sir Craig for $200 bones - she used to be perhaps the only shade of pink in the world I don't like.

I painted her white and positioned her in the kitchen to serve as a china hutch.

Although I loved the cabinet here, it didn't really fit the space...made having a chair at the end of the table a little tight.

And more importantly, hush hush, whisper whisper...my new kitchen is going to have some pretty fabulous display areas so.....time for Ms. Chinoise to move. 

I wanted to give the cabinet a bit of a new look for the big transfer so she got a little FB Hague Blue touch up...and let me just say, she's looking quite pretty.

Here she is now.

I still have a LOT of fiddling/rearranging to do with the goodies inside, but so far so good.

Yay! Time for another 1 room 2 ways:
Even the name of her blog makes me happy, I am simply beaming to introduce the next "1 room 2 ways " guest blogger. Sissy from Blue Hydrangea is really a wonder. She's got a great talent and an amazing knack for inspiring her readers with her all of her lovely images and great DIY's {look at her lamp shade} Again I am humbled when you awesome bloggers that have so much talent, take the time to give us admirers a glimpse into your genius.

I was so excited when Amber asked me to participate in her series "1 Room 2 Ways". Then reality hit. Did you see Amber's version? It was "1 Room 3 Ways" and it was off the charts! See it here. After a week or two of procrastinating I decided to try a new look for Clay's room. He is 10 now, but one day he will grow up and/or move out (right?) and I might want to change the look of his room.

First I changed the lamp and accessories.

Then came new pillows, blankets and art work. And I was done. I liked it. But I didn't think Clay would go for the flowers, so I changed it back before he got home from school. My grandmother made the crocheted blanket for me when I was about 10 and I love that it fits right in with my colors and style today. And you know what? It was fun!!
