Kantha Throws from Dignify

We all know that anything that adds a tribal or global flare to decor is right on trend right now.
This includes Kantha throws, which are made from saris and sewn together using a traditional kantha stitch.
 I was recently contacted by the owner of Dignify, and after checking out the site, instantly fell in love with their gorgeous selection of Kanthas, all made from 6 layers of vintage saris!

 

The thing I love about Dignify (even more than the fabulous throws and other home accessories) is the company's mission is to provide dignity and livelihood for the creators of the products.

Dignify was sweet enough to send me a beautiful little sample of one of their Kantha throws.

It is so soft and lovely! In the package was a powerful and moving story about one of the kantha craftswoman in Bangladesh, who has struggled through physical abuse, sexual abuse, and poverty while trying to support her son before being embraced by the Dignify community.

Coral Jeans

Like many of my fellow bloggers, I've been loving the colored denim trend. I couldn't decide which color I wanted, until I stumbled across the perfect coral pair at Aritzia. Unfortunately, they were over $200. On trends, I refuse to spend alot of money because you never know how long they will be around. Luckily for me, Garage had a nearly identical pair for only $40. You can bet I snapped those up. Here's how I plan on styling my new pants:

Trying Out New Trends

Do you ever see a fashion trend on a celebrity and think "I could pull that off", but when you purchase the item you never seem to find the courage to wear it? This is what happened to me with the headscarf. I see it on other people and I am absolutely IN LOVE with this look. But whenever I put mine on I hesitate for some reason.
I first started noticing this look on the always fashionable Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl (one of my favourite shows, hello Chuck Bass).

These UpperEast Siders wear their headscarves pushed back higher up on their heads, which makes it a bit more preppy.

I also like the way Nicole Richie wears a scarf, over the top of her forehead. It's a hippie inspired look, adding a carefree vibe and ease to her look. She chooses bright and playful prints to add a pop to her neutral attire and finishes the look with a pair of stylish shades.

Another way to wear the headscarf that I really like is to spin it around so the knot or bow is on the front!

I think I'm going to get the courage to wear mine one day soon:
