Nature Way

Sometimes designers you needn't look far,

for a swirly rock from nature,

and a color combo on par!

A Well Placed Blanket

A well placed blanket or textile can really make a room. Don't believe me? Take a look at the following examples, which, in my opinion, wouldn't be nearly as effective without the blankets used.

^^ An neutral upholstered headboard is given a unique look by draping a simple textile over the center. It adds an eclectic flare that can be easily changed up when the  mood suits.

^^ This Navajo print in a washed out pallet compliments the soft greys of the couch, and the native character of the blanket partners well with the natural wooden accessories on the coffee table.

^^ Okay, okay, you caught me! I just used this picture in my first Favourite Furniture Friday's entry on the Eames Lounge. While the chair is, as I emphasized in the previous post, iconic and breathtaking, the room really pops because of the modern and bright Mexican serape draped on the lounger. I love it.

So, if you look around a room in your house and feel it needs a little bit more life, consider investing in a new blanket or textile with a great colour or pattern. It's an inexpensive way to change the look of your decor!

Some Ish

WOW

That was intense

I just straight up relaxed and did practically nothing for 2 weeks and I couldn't be more stressed out about it!

I am super pumped to get back into work but also majorly dragging my feet at the idea of 12-14 hour days again. I am petrified of coming face to face with my office, which for the past two weeks has been where we have dumped all the bills and all the x-mas presents from Santa for G.

It's a terrible mess in that office and I am scared of it

I have worn pajamas nearly everyday for 2 weeks and my make-up bag has a layer of dust on it from non use

I have quickly put on quite a heaping helping of fat around my middle section which would be great for keeping me warm in the winter, but Cali has been 85 since Christmas day...so not cool man.

I can tell you my vacation time was not sexy or artsy and crafty at all...it did however help me gain some perspective on how dirty my damn house was!

I cleaned it and de-cluttered it and it felt good

Two thumbs UP for me!

Anyways, back to reality we go and back to the daily grind of providing you with decent content and at least a laugh or two.

As I said before I didn't get around to much else other than relaxing, however I did finalize G's design board...

What do you guys think

I am a bit rusty but I do know I love this room....thoughts?

It's good to be back.

Thanks for sticking by!

Interior Inspiration: Toronto Maple Leafs

My boyfriend and I are huge Toronto Maple Leaf fans. We recently went to a game at the Air Canada Centre and witnessed a big win! It was definitely a memorable trip and one of the highlights of my winter break!

While I think that going overboard decorating with sports memorabilia can come out looking either tacky or like a man cave, I wanted to show how you can incorporate hints of your favourite team in your interior decor to inject your own personality into a room (and perhaps keep the man of the house happy). There's a saying that Leafs fans bleed blue and white, so here are some of my favourite blue and white decor ideas!

Even if you're not a Leafs fan, decorating in dark blue and white can be an appealing option! It's appropriate for both males and females, can give a nautical/sea inspired look, and most importantly is crisp and fresh. Blue is also considered a modern neutral, so you can still inject pops of other colors without clashing!

Are you REALLY daring? Go blue with your kitchen cabinets! Image via Delight by Design
While the dark blue walls in the second last picture might be too moody for my taste, I think it could certainly work in the right space and for the right client! But I do love the idea of a navy sofa. And surely even the least adventurous couldn't object to a blue and white accent pillow, window treatment, or accessory!
MUST HAVE this beautiful ikat pillow from this vendor on Etsy

I love these striped mugs from West Elm
and this beautiful Scott Lifshutz feather print also from West Elm

Would you consider using this colour scheme in one of your spaces? What are the colours of YOUR favourite team. No Leafs chirps please! GO LEAFS GO
