Blogpodium Recap Part 2 of 2: Photobooth Fun and What I learned

Ah guys I am swamped this week! It's finals week which means no sleep and a whole pile of work. But, I promised to share part two of Blogpodium today and I am a girl of my word.

First, some hilarity to make you giggle this morning:
Obviously I was pretty enamored with this photobooth, I did it six times. Mostly I couldn't get enough of laughing and goofing off with all of these lovely ladies I had been DYING to meet. Do you spot anyone you know?

Secondly, I wanted to share the key piece of info I got from each seminar that I attended. I learned so much from each speaker, it was hard to narrow it down!
Wise words from some seriously successful and inpirational people.
And now I am signing off to kick some design school butt!
Wish me luck loves!

Blogpodium Recap Part 1 of 2: Overview of the Day

On Sunday I attended Blogpodium with about 250 other amazing bloggers.
You guys, I had the BEST time. If you were there, then you are probably as inspired as I am by all the talent, creativity and advice that we were surrounded by all day. The blogging community is just as amazing and supportive in person as it is online - and that is something to smile about. If you weren't there, you best be coming next year - but in the meantime I will catch you up:
I will admit I was a bad blogger while I was there...I took about zero photos. I'm going to chalk it up to being in the moment and being busy socializing! Luckily the always amazing Anna with Love captured the day better than I ever could:
^ The decorations provided by minted were absolutely perfect! I loved all the pretty details.
^Sarah Richardson's keynote speech was one of the highlights of the day for me. She spoke about her struggles to get to where she is today, about her family, her style, her business. She was totally open.
^Getting ready to learn from fabulous Steph Sterjovski with some old and some new friends! Elyse, that hair flip is pretty unreal.
^ So proud of my girl Steph!  Her presentation was invaluable. Such a genuine heart!
^ Amazing food all day long keeps this blogger very happy
^A seminar on "How to grow your blog using Social Media"...I have to say Meredith Heron is exactly as I imagined her to be...hilarious, honest, and amazing. I got to spend some time with her throughout the evening and learned so much from this inspirational woman!
^Cute ribbon wall to display all of our business cards!
^"This is my goodside" - evening photobooth backdrop...You will see it in action tomorrow.

And in case you are wondering what I wore, this is the only picture I have of my outfit. Luckily it's a cute one and features me with my newest bloggy friend, Lynsey of Frou Frou and Frills!
A red/orange pencil skirt, basic grey tee, some bling bling and a little leopard belt. With some gorgeous studded flats that have left me blistered and defeated.
Come back tomorrow for some of the most useful things that I learned and some photobooth fun (way too much photobooth fun).
How was your weekend?

Pink Curtains in the Washroom

I'm all about bold curtains in the washroom, whether in the form of a shower curtain or window treatments. Washrooms are comprised of mostly hard, cold, shiny and monochromatic surfaces. Textiles are a great way to soften up the space and inject warmth, pattern and color. And hey, if that color happens to be pink, I'm certainly not complaining!

^Sarah Richardson and Tommy Smythe hit the window treatments out of the park with this graphic, chinoserie inspired fabric from Quadrille.

Unfortunately the clients weren't crazy about pink.... I'd gladly take these off their hands!

^ Naomi of Design Manifest amped up the personality of this little girl's bathroom with dual custom shower curtains with Mint Fleur Chinoise by Caitlin Wilson Textiles.

Do you like the idea of curtains in the bathroom, or does the idea of drapery in a humid environment make you uneasy? What about pink curtains? I wish I could do something like this in my current bachelorette pad...I just know the boy will veto it the second we live together, much like my dream of a pink sofa....

Gold Hardware

There is just something so warm about gold. I think that's why gold has made such a big come back this past year or so. And what space needs more warming up than a kitchen?
I'm currently crushing on gold hardware in the kitchen, especially when mixed with stainless steel appliances. Mixing metallics has been frowned upon in the past, but today is totally accepted and encouraged!

Would you try gold hardware in your own kitchen?

Buddha Heads & IDS Toronto

There is something so peaceful about a Buddha head. With the eyes closed in a meditative state, a Buddha head radiates a serenity and sense of calm. Also, the bump on the top of the head (or ushnisha) represents superior wisdom. How cool!
Buddha heads are a popular styling item in decor right now, and it's easy to see why. They represent a global aesthetic and bring a feeling of travel and worldliness to any space!

Of course, here is mine, which you saw last week when I talked about my Ikea Expedit:
You guys had some great tips for my cord dilemma! Hiding those will be my next project.

Also, on Friday I went to the Interior Design Show in Toronto! It was so much fun. I even had a chance to say a quick hello to Sarah Richardson and Tommy in between takes (they were filming)! I snapped a picture of Sarah in action. It was really neat to see her in front of the camera - she is such a natural!
I didn't want to bother them for a picture together while they were working, hopefully I'll get a chance in the future! I grew up watching Sarah's shows and consider her a huge inspiration and a major influence in my decision to become an interior designer!
Were any of you at the show?!

Green and Wicked

The day I've been waiting for is almost here at last. On Saturday, I'm going to be seeing the Broadway hit musical 'Wicked'. Tickets weren't cheap and sold out fast but my friend Melanie, Caitlin and I got our hands on some!

In honour of the Musical, which takes place in Oz, I'm sharing with you a favourite space with hits of the colour of the Emerald City:

This space was designed by Sarah Richardson and aired on season 2 of Sarah 101.
To say I'm green with envy is an understatement! Can you believe that green leopard print?

Just for a little fun, here is an old (2008) and embarrassing photo of Mel, Cait and I in our 42nd Street costumes, which we performed on the very same stage where the talented performers of Wicked will be performing on Saturday! I'm in the lighter blue, if you couldn't tell.

Favourite Furniture Fridays: Hello Lovely

For Today's Guest Post we Have the darling Sarah from Hello Lovely. This girl is seriously my blog twin, separated at birth.

Hello Lovelies! I am so happy to be here with you today! I adore Tiffany's blog so this is so exciting for me! Yay! I have also read some of your sweet comments so I know she has some pretty awesome followers! Today I'm going to share my favourite furniture piece from my home. When Tiffany first asked me, I really had to think, hmmm what is my favourite piece!?! I am very picky, so unless I LOVE it, I don't have it in my home...but I think if I had to choose one thing, it would be my coffee table.
Our little coffee table almost didn't make it here though....My Husband and I actually went searching for an ottoman. I thought it would be more comfy and relaxed for our living room. We searched high and low and finally found one. We drove over an hour to get this ottoman. I was so sure this was it. Until....I.saw.it.

A shiny sparkler out of the corner of my eye. My Husband thought I was nuts. I was going on and on about the ottoman and now here I was dying over this coffee table! We decided that we came for the ottoman, it was the perfect one we had been searching for, so we bought it. There, done. That night we sat down to watch Sarah's House Season 4 and there.it.was...MY COFFEE TABLE!!!
via Sarah Richardson
It was a sign from Sarah herself! I made the wrong choice! Let's just say I could NOT sleep that night. All I could think about was that darn coffee table! I woke up and called the store as soon as it opened and luckily they let me change my order! A few weeks later this little beauty was in our living room and I have loved it ever since. Hope you like it too!
 xoxo, Sarah
When Sarah Richardson speaks, we all listen! I love this glam little coffee table, especially those dainty caster feet! Great find Sarah, and thank you for sharing. Don't forget to check out Hello Lovely for yourselves!

Cottage Style

This weekend, I took advantage of the warm weather and headed up to a friend's summer home. There's nothing I love quite like cottage country. I feel so at peace on the lake, and boating always puts a huge smile on my face.
^ Here I am basking in the front of the boat (and channeling my inner Elle Woods in a sequined bikini top).
I also love me some fabulous nautical inspired interiors. Take for example the following cottage of designer Sarah Richardson:

Can you imagine anything more perfect? I can't.
How was YOUR weekend lovelies?
