Meet Edith, a Belgian interior designer

Today I would love to introduce you to the Belgian designer and decorator EDITH GYBELS.

Graduated as fashion designer, Edith realized very soon that she was passionated about fabrics and that she had even a natural talent for creating beautiful interiors.

So a few years ago she started her own business and workshop.

Edith has always loved to visit London, where she was introduced to all the famous fabric collections and where she was inspired by all the interior design shows. She was eager to learn more about how window treatment should be finished. According to Edith the British people are masters in finishing curtains. Their finishings are just perfection.

Edith also offers her clients decorative accessories and antique furniture, but the emphasis remains on designing and window treatment and everything related to what could be created with fabrics. Edith even designs her own custom-made collection of seating furniture.

I came across the work of Edith by reading a few articles in Belgian interior magazines. And I loved what I saw!

I contacted Edith asking her if she would agree if I wrote a blogpost about her work, and she accepted.

The images on this post are of a Belgian house of which the owners asked Edith to give their home a new look.

For the redo of this house Edith worked together with local craftsmen as a team of painters, upholsterers and cabinetmakers.

2 In the living room all seats are reupholstered. A Pierre Frey fabric for the bergères and a fabric from Métaphores for the sofas. A wool rug is placed on the authentic parquet floor.

3 I really love this seating area, with the perfect match of colors. Gorgeous!!

14 The draperies are an example of perfection.

16 Again the perfect combination of upholstery, cabinetry and wall paint.

15 Edith works with precision and she finishes all window treatment by hand.

13 The blue Delftware displayed in the kitchen was the starting point choosing the appropriate fabrics. All fabrics in tones of blue: a checkered pattern for table chairs and seats and a chicken patterned curtain fabric.

23 For the outdoor furniture of the terrace, adjoining the kitchen, Edith has covered the cushions with a light blue fabric.

12 In this bedroom are used Pierre Frey fabrics and a wallpaper of the Ralph Lauren collection.

The gothic styled bed headboards are designed by Edith.

7 An accessory made of the same fabric as the one used for the reverse side of the curtains. It’s all in the detail !

5Edith personalized the window treatment by adding these pearls. The finishing touch!

6 I am convinced Edith succeeded in her mission to create a new look for this house. Are you?

Dream House Alphabet: A

A is for Archways

There is something about a house with unique architectural features that appeals to me immensely. Perhaps it’s the character that they add to a space; character that screams: “This house isn’t cookie cutter, IT’S ONE IN A MILLION !”. Perhaps it’s the fact that houses with these kinds of detail are often old…they have a history, they have been called home for many years, and both memories and love are embedded into their walls. Someday I’ll buy one of these old houses, complete with quirky archways, fix it up, and be lucky enough to call it home.
via
^Love the large scale of this arch, as well as the leaded detail in the upper portion of the windows. Also, isn't the combination of white cabinetry with a dark wood island simply perfect?
via
^So classic and elegant in it's repetition. The architecture speaks for itself in this space.
via

^Dark meet light in this masculine, arched space
^ Paint the inside of an arch for an extra pop.
Adore the use of Tangerine Tango here.

So what do you think? If you had a dream house alphabet, what would YOUR letter 'A' stand for?

Just cause it's purty

I could just move right on in....

It's Trina Turks pad which was just featured in Matchbook Mag

Sometimes you just gotta repost stuff, even though I am sure most of you have already seen it a million times

I can't wait till this week is over

Meena (G's nanny and my life support) hurt her back and the Duck is in Australia so it's been crazy over here trying to balance work and Mommy duties and pending travels across the world.

a real shit show

Speaking of shit show....I woke up yesterday to a weird smell

walked in my bathroom

looked in my tub

SHIT SHOW

My toilets and sewer decided to back up into my tub.

5 inches of sewage was just chill in in my bath tub

Good news is, I will never ever  NEVER shower in that bathroom again..which means that I plan on starting the re-model of that bathroom immediatly

Bad news is that I don't have a spare second left in my life to add another project on my list.

I demand a 25th hour be added to each day!

Habitania photoshoot

My dearest readers, in my blogpost of last weekend I told you that I was preparing a photoshoot for an interior design magazine.

The photoshoot for the prestigious Spanish magazine HABITANIA took place this week!

Cover Cover of one of the previous issues of Habitania

A few months ago I was contacted by Gaby Conde, stylist and contributor to the magazine Habitania.

I was thrilled to hear that she would love to do a photoshoot of my home!

As they had to come to Belgium, she even asked me if maybe there was another home, that I would love to see in the magazine!

As I am almost finished with the interior decoration of my sister’s home, I called my sister to ask her permission to take pictures of her home. And she agreed!!

On Tuesday Gaby and her team of photographers Montse Garriga and Eric Pamies arrived at our home to take pictures and the day after we all headed to Bruges for the photoshoot of my sister’s home.

A couple of busy days as you might imagine!!!

Foto 001 The talented and sweet Montse preparing her camera !!! She really is a very talented photographer and has done a lot of photoshoots all over the world for renowned interior design magazines.

I thought to share with you today a sneek peek of these photoshoot days and took a few pictures myself. The pictures are of course not of equal quality as those taken by the photographers for the magazine Habitania.

I am so looking forward to the upcoming article that probably will be published within a couple of months. I will let you know!

And of course a huge thank you to my sister for allowing us to do the photoshoot.

A wonderful weekend to you all!

I will try to relax this weekend and to go riding Mango, because I so missed her this week!

The Homies!

Hi Lovers!

I consider us Homies.....

You should consider Me for the Homies.

Make sense?

Can you vote for me?

Just go HERE HERE HERE and find me on the list...

If this dress were a couch...

If this dress were a couch.....
It would be white with black piping, have a beautiful and colorful ikat lumbar pillow, and two royal blue throw cushions the same shade as her shoes!

If this dress were a couch...
It would be a funky, dizzying black and white patterned number, showing lots of leg, with a bunch of colorful accent pillows!

Truly digging both of these outfits! Are you?
